Too Many Vitamins

February 23rd, 2008 . by admin

Are you someone who is vitamin obsessed? How many vitamins are you taking a day? If you are someone who takes a large amount of vitamins you may need to ease up.

Vitamins are very important to a healthy body and they are needed daily, but there is such a thing as taking too many. If you do go over the recommended amount by this much, then you may be endangering your health.

What happens when you take vitamins is that your body will use up some of them and store the rest. If you take over ten times the amount needed, it is going to store a gigantic amount. When these large amounts are stored, it can be toxic to your body and your organs will be put at risk.

There are some vitamins that are more dangerous than others to megadose on. These vitamins are fat-soluble. They are: Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K.

If you megadose on Vitamin A, it can be very detrimental, especially for pregnant women among delivery. Taking too much Vitamin C can give someone kidney stones. Too much Vitamin B6 may cause damage in the nervous system. Many other vitamin megadoses may damage the liver and kidneys.

If you take too much of one vitamin, you will probably be lacking in other vitamins. Another consequence of megadosing is it might change how effective other medicine may be that you ingest.

Megadosing is mainly from the pill form. What I mean is that it is highly unlikely to get too many vitamins from eating a ton of spinach.

It is important to really be responsible when taking vitamins and not over do it. The supplements should help and not hinder a person.
