The Right Way to Take Supplements

A lot of people have digestive systems that don’t break down food or absorb nutrients well. It may be because a poor level of stomach acid, toxin in their gut, or not enough digestive enzyme productions.

This can be improved when the intake of nutrients increases slowly. The best thing a person can do is eat an organic diet, but you can also take supplements.

You needn’t see a doctor to take a supplement. You can take them in small amounts often and it will help health problems that may be occurring. If you are interested in taking a larger dose of a supplement then you should see a doctor or a nutritionist.

When is the best time to take supplements? It is during meals so it can be better absorbed by the digestive system. The digestive system will work it’s magic when it is provided with food. If you have a time released supplement it is best taken with food as well.

A vitamin that is water-soluble can pass through our system quickly, so they should be taken a couple times a day. Fat-soluble vitamins have more absorption if they are taken with meals that have some fat. Any minerals taken will work together with vitamins and need to be taken with them. There may be minerals that don’t make it easy for others to absorb so they should be taken at a different time.

Here is a list of vitamins and minerals and when they should be taken.

Vitamins A, D, and E: Take with meals that have a little oil or Fat

B Complex Vitamins: Take in the morning to give energy, but you can take anytime especially with whole grains.

Vitamin C: Take with a meal if you can or it can be taken on an empty stomach if you are sick. Take a couple every day.

If you take a time-released pill, take it with your first meal of the day.

Iron: Best taken with food.

Calcium: Take about a 1/2 hour before you go to bed.

Magnesium: Take 1/2 hour before you go to bed.

Multiformulas: Take anytime;works well with a bit of food.
