Amino Acids; Lysine
June 21st, 2007 . by adminThe amino acid Lysine is essential to the body. It has to be received from sources that aren’t within our bodies because we don’t produce it. It is a crucial part of protein building and is found in meat, fish, dairy, legumes, and brewer’s yeast.
Lysine is helpful in many bodily functions and has been proven to be effective against cold sores and herpes. It also helps calcium to be absorbed faster in our body.
For a bodybuilder Lysine will help in these ways:
-Assists in muscle building.
-Keeps the nitrogen levels steady.
-Helps to produce hormones.
-Helps people recover faster if they get an injury or they over-train.
Because lysine can be received through many areas we probably eat daily, if you take a supplement it will enhance the effects above. If you exceed 15 grams of lysine you can have stomach problems.
